‘It’s a victory for Zalmi and they are champions of the HBLPSL season 2’
Perhaps the best part about success, for some, is moving closer to the one who paved the way. The divine power that strengthens the soul. The quote goes like, ‘luck is not hitting your bat where the ball comes. Luck is the ball coming exactly where you hit the bat’.

This entire journey of Zalmi in the PSL leads us to Farooq Jehanzeb who belongs to the city of flowers; Peshawar and has been associated with Peshawar Zalmi since its inception. Farooq being a zealous and ambitious young boy coming from the same city where everyone dreams of a better future had set his goals already but this journey of him wasn’t a piece of cake. Like others in town, he also had to go through the ‘societal norms’ of the city in his early days. Cricket has always had been a source of fascination for young Farooq. After being lucky enough to play district level & some domestic Tournaments, Farooq realized he had to say goodbye to the practical game. The game that is known for uniting the nations left such an impact on the young lad that his vision to stay close to the game through one way or the other became crystal clear.

Ever since Pakistan’s national cricket came into existence, the domestic cricket in Pakistan was certainly underrated and was as ignored as a middle child in any brown family. Then came the year 2015 which not only brought the Pakistan Super League to life but also bridged the gap between Farooq and his dream.

They say determination is the wake-up call to the human will. While interviews for different departments were underway for Peshawar Zalmi in the second season of the Pakistan Super League, Farooq made the opportunity count and unsurprisingly was selected amongst 14 out of 60 candidates. The second season for PSL and the first for Farooq was when Peshawar Zalmi was given the title of champions of the HBLPSL season 2.

Starting as a Creative Media & Communication head, he was as determined to his goal as a lion who out for hunt. An ordinary guy who was watching the game on TV just a year back was now surrounded by players from around the world, working in nets with them, attending a meeting with Javed Afridi the business tycoon and recording interviews of Shahid Afridi aka Lala and Daren Sammy was no less than a dream for him.

The IMSciences graduate has looked after all the Peshawar Zalmi Creative & Media departments from 2016 till date. There’s this thing about Pathaan people. They believe in hard work and are more goal-oriented than people from any other ethnicity.
Determination gets you through a long way. The PSL season 6 took off a start on Feb 2021. The 3rd match by Peshawar Zalmi into the 6th edition of PSL might just be an ordinary match day for the fans but for Farooq, it was a milestone. He was proudly standing in the 50th match of his PSL journey with Peshawar Zalmi. With eyes as bright as a diamond, only he knew what this khpal journey was like to him. And like many others, his journey is ON.
