The federal capital Islamabad police take initiative to educate women against gender-based violence and also let them learn how to take self-defense. They have decided to conduct a training three days a week. Women have witnessed a huge rise in crimes especially sexual harassment and every day Pakistan is reported with every new case.
The nature of these cases is normally rape cases and verbal harassment in streets that are very common these days. However, rape cases are one of the most stressful subjects that a woman needs to care about. These situations led to post-traumatic stress disorder in which one has to suffer from episodes of the related event.
Women and children are under constant stress and fear of not being safe anywhere. To address this particular issue Islamabad police decided to aware the women citizens about the self-defense courses that include physical training and armed training, and an assault course to make females completely capable of defending themselves in threatening situations.
The duration of the course is 4 October to 4 November and costs Rs. 30,000. The classes will be three days a week from 4 PM to 7 PM. The registration is currently open via an online application form. These trainings are mostly given by the female trainers and male trainers would help them in the case when they need them.
