Jarrod Bowen is having an incredible season for West Ham and the calls will grow louder for Gareth Southgate to reward him with an England call-up.

Bowen scored twice in the Hammers’ 2-2 draw with Manchester City on Sunday and has terrorised defences all season in both the Premier League and Europa League.

It is now 22 league goal involvements for the winger this season (12 goals and 10 assists), the same as City star Kevin De Bruyne has managed.

The 25-year-old has been one of the best players in the Premier League this season and a call-up to the national side is perhaps overdue.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright, who had 33 England caps, led the calls for Bowen be named in the next Three Lions squad.

Alongside a GIF of an angry Phil Mitchell, Ian Wright wrote on Twitter: “If Bowen doesn’t get an England call up after the season he’s had.”

The West Ham star is certainly making his case to be involved in the upcoming internationals, with the World Cup on the horizon in November.

In March, Southgate admitted that Bowen was ‘in the frame’ for an England call-up and might have been considered if he was not out injured.

“With Jarrod, we never got to that point of having the final meeting where we had to make a decision because we already knew earlier this week that he was going to be out injured,” said the Three Lions boss. “But he has certainly done everything he can on the pitch to put himself in the frame.”
